タンザナイトは、青から青紫色を示すゾイサイトの宝石名です。主な産地はタンザニアのメレラニ地域で、見る方向や光源によって青、紫などに見える多色性があります。流通品の多くは褐色味を除き青色を引き出すため加熱処理されます。劈開があるため、強い衝撃を避けた扱いが適しています。
