トルマリンは、複雑な組成を持つホウケイ酸塩鉱物のグループで、和名を電気石といいます。黒、緑、青、赤、ピンク、黄など非常に幅広い色があり、一つの結晶に複数色が現れることもあります。加熱や圧力で帯電する性質が知られ、種類により比重や成分が異なります。
